Performative Writings and Contemplative Exercises

Abstract

I present a proposal for theoretical/practical investigations which articulate the processes involved in the creation of texts with contemplative exercises. With the term “performative writing” I refer to work with words which involves strategies and devices capable of transforming habits related to perception, based on everyday activities and exercises. The goal of this research is to link artistic work with the cultivation of cognitive and emotional qualities which are worked on in the Buddhist references, based on the understanding that such traditions make fundamental contributions towards rethinking the possibilities of performative arts today.
